I have spent a lot of time enjoying walking on the beaches where I live, and I have also done a lot of plein air landscape painting in the past. From those two things emerged the idea of making a series of beach mugs that are essentially landscape paintings using underglaze and a clear glaze on a three dimensional object. They are time consuming to make, but I definitely enjoy making them from start to finish — and then again with a hot cup of tea at the end!
